Roots & Recipe: International Youth Food and Culture Gathering in Midsa

Today, the Midsa Council in collaboration with the Friends of the Earth Malta and Subline successfully organized “Roots & Recipe – International Food Gathering by International Youth.” The vibrant event brought together migrant communities who shared traditional dishes from their homelands, creating a colorful showcase of international flavors.

The cultural exchange did not stop at food. The evening stage came alive with music, dance, and art performances, highlighting the diversity and creativity of the young participants. Local community leaders also joined the celebration, showing support for initiatives that strengthen intercultural understanding.

Representing the Bangladesh Malta Business Association, Vice President Mr. Jonathan Borg attended the event. He expressed admiration for the youth performances and emphasized the importance of such gatherings in connecting migrant communities with the local society. “I warmly welcome all communities and participants. Events like this are a bridge between cultures and an inspiration for our youth,” Mr. Borg said.

Participants and communities extended heartfelt thanks to the organizers, recognizing the event’s positive impact. Many noted that Roots & Recipe is more than just a food festival — it is a platform for friendship, learning, and building stronger bonds across cultures, especially for the younger generation. Roots & Recipes was made possible through an EU-funded project managed by Friends of the Earth Malta.
