Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi praises SEM’s role as the human face of EU funds

Valletta, 9 October 2025 – Minister for European Funds and Implementation of the Electoral Programme Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi praised the work of Servizzi Ewropej f’Malta (SEM), describing it as “the human face of EU funds” during the inauguration of the new entrance to SEM’s offices in Valletta.

Between January and September 2025, SEM supported over 120 EU funding applications, responded to more than 1,000 requests for information, and held over 400 individual meetings with applicants. The agency also organised 27 information sessions across Malta and Gozo, reaching farmers, fishers, businesses, and voluntary organisations.

Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi commended SEM’s ongoing commitment to transparency, accessibility, and professionalism. He highlighted that SEM’s continuous engagement strengthens trust between citizens and institutions through communication and collaboration.

He also congratulated SEM’s CEO Rodrick Zerafa and the entire team for their efforts, noting that SEM was awarded the 2025 Public Service Quality Award and selected to represent Malta at the European Enterprise Promotion Awards in Copenhagen this November.

“The European funds remain a key tool to continue building a stronger, more competitive, and socially just Malta,” said the Minister. “Through SEM, these funds are reaching our families, businesses, and communities effectively and sustainably.”

CEO Rodrick Zerafa added that the new office entrance reflects SEM’s values of accessibility and trust. “We want everyone who approaches SEM to feel welcomed and supported in making the best use of EU funding opportunities,” he said.
