Maltese parliamentary delegation concludes official visit to San Marino

A parliamentary delegation from the Parliament of Malta, led by Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia, successfully concluded an official visit to the Republic of San Marino held between 21 and 23 December 2025.

The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance inter-parliamentary cooperation. During the visit, Speaker Farrugia held high-level meetings with San Marino’s authorities, including Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari and Their Excellencies the Captains Regent Matteo Rossi and Lorenzo Bugli.

Speaker Farrugia was awarded the Order of Saint Agatha, Grand Cross, one of San Marino’s highest honours. The programme also included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of Malta and the Great and General Council of San Marino, establishing a formal framework for cooperation and institutional collaboration.

The Maltese delegation also held discussions with Members of the San Marino Parliament on legislative processes, digital governance and democratic participation, as well as visits to the State Library and Archives.

The visit marks an important milestone in strengthening relations between Malta and San Marino and reinforces the commitment of both Parliaments to continued dialogue and cooperation.
