The 25th edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival opens in Nadur, Gozo

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri announced that the 25th edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival will open in Nadur on Saturday, 18 April 2026. This special 2026 edition, themed "The Luminous Legacy," features a record number of teams and elaborate displays spread across the Maltese Islands.

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri stated, "It is a great satisfaction for us that Gozo, and particularly Nadur, is hosting the opening of this special edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival. This event not only showcases our tradition and extraordinary skill in pyrotechnics, but it also continues to strengthen Gozo as a quality cultural and tourist destination. Above all, this is one of our goals in the strategy for Gozo and Vision Malta 2050. This festival is a testament to the legacy we have built over the years and our commitment to continue investing in events that attract both Maltese and visitors."

The festival, which will be held on the 18th, 20th, and 25th, and conclude on 30 April 2026 with a grand finale in Valletta, represents a unique celebration of Maltese cultural heritage, where fireworks merge with art, precision, and innovation. Every night offers a beautiful spectacle of colours and designs in the sky, culminating in a spectacular finale.

In particular, the Pyro-Musical competition remains one of the highlights of the festival, where fireworks are artistically synchronized to selected music, rewarding the best displays. This competition demonstrates the high level of technical and creative skill of Maltese factories and continues to strengthen Malta's international reputation in this field.

This year, around 40 firework factories and affiliated organizations, including eight competitors in the Pyro-Musical category, will participate in this event, with displays that will light up the skies of Nadur and Valletta.

Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri concluded by encouraging the public to attend this event and enjoy an experience that combines tradition, art, and entertainment.

The Malta International Fireworks Festival is organized by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, in collaboration with the Malta Tourism Authority.
