14 constables promoted to sergeants

Fourteen constables were recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant upon successfully completing a rigorous 14-week course at the Disciplined Forces Academy in Ta’ Kandja.

During a ceremony held at the Police Headquarters, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri underscored the government's acknowledgment of the pivotal role played by human resources in ensuring the security of the country.

In his address, Dr. Camilleri emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to bolstering the workforce within the police force. He highlighted the significant investments and favorable conditions provided by the government to uphold this commitment.

Dr. Camilleri also made reference to a sectoral agreement signed some time ago, aimed at enhancing the conditions, rights, and salaries of police officers, further demonstrating the government's dedication to supporting law enforcement personnel.

Police Commissioner Mr. Angelo Gafà emphasized the significance of the recent promotions, highlighting that they mark a significant milestone in the careers of the newly appointed sergeants. He encouraged them to be confident in making decisions, while also stressing the importance of seeking guidance when necessary.

Commissioner Gafà reiterated the Corps' dedication to ongoing transformation efforts. He emphasized the importance of adhering to a code of ethics, which includes values such as accountability and integrity. Additionally, he underscored the crucial role of leadership within the organization.

"As sergeants, you will now be the go-to individuals for advice and consultation within the police force. Our profession is undoubtedly demanding, yet it is the challenges we face that ultimately bring satisfaction to our work."
