San Giuliano restaurant in St. Julians
An excellent dinner for my wife and I at San Giuliano restaurant in St. Julians on Friday evening. On arrival we were greeted by front of house manager Angelo Nikolov, who gave us a nice table for two persons near the window, overlooking Spinola Bay. Behind us a beautiful bouquet of flowers adorned the central table. San Guiliano immediately gives you an aura of finesse. This restaurant has been open for quite some time now, and I can say it is one of the best fine dining restaurants in Malta.
Menus were presented from which we chose octopus carpaccio and beef carpaccio as our starters. As an intermediate course we chose two plates of pasta - linguini vongole and bavette with calamari and prawns, which we shared. The cuisine here is italian, and one cannot eat at an italian restaurant and not have some pasta. For main course we then had veal saltimbocca, which was accompanied by individual bowls of grilled vegetables, oven baked potatoes, and rucola.

We complimented our dinner with a bottle of Corteaura Franciacorta Brut italian sparkling wine with our starters, and a bottle of Georges Vigouroux Grand Vin Seigneur french malbec from Chateau de Haute Serre with our main course. We rounded up our dinner with two homemade desserts - apple tarte tatin for myself and chocolate fondant for my wife.
The cost of the dinner at the end came to Eur130 for the food and Eur110 for the wine, ie.. Eur240 in total. Top level food, efficient service and in a beautiful setting. A great dinner indeed and one to be repeated. Thumbs up to restaurant manager Radian Grech for maintaining the standard year after year.
