Benny Gantz Quits Israeli Government Over Gaza War Handling

Israeli politician Benny Gantz, a prominent member of the war cabinet, resigned from the government yesterday, citing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Gaza. Gantz's departure is not expected to force Netanyahu out of office, but it removes a moderate influence that had bolstered the government's international credibility.

Last month, Gantz issued an ultimatum to Netanyahu, demanding immediate action on critical issues, including plans for the return of hostages and the future governance of Gaza. With Gantz's exit, Netanyahu’s coalition will now consist of his right-wing Likud party, three far-right parties, and two ultra-Orthodox factions. Analysts suggest that Gantz's resignation could empower far-right ministers within the coalition.

The War in Gaza: On Saturday, Israel's operation to rescue four hostages in central Gaza led to intense aerial bombardment and ground operations, resulting in numerous casualties, according to Gaza health officials. The rescue operation highlighted a significant intelligence effort to free the hostages.
