Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte Set to Lead NATO

Mark Rutte, the outgoing Prime Minister of the Netherlands, is poised to become the next Secretary General of NATO following the withdrawal of Romania’s President from the race.

Rutte, 57, has been instrumental in directing over $3 billion in military aid from the Netherlands to Ukraine since 2022. He has consistently supported NATO's stance on the importance of aiding Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, emphasizing the role of this support in safeguarding democracy and national sovereignty within the alliance.
