Israel Releases Gaza Hospital Director

Israel has released Mohammad Abu Salmiya, the director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, after detaining him for more than seven months, according to Palestinian health officials. The release has sparked immediate controversy in Israel, despite no charges against him being made public.

Human rights groups have criticized his prolonged detention, viewing it as indicative of Israeli mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners. Conversely, some Israeli officials have condemned his release, labeling it as a failure in the management of the war by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In the West Bank, armed militants in Tulkarm and Jenin are increasingly joining more hard-line factions such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad, prompting Israeli military efforts to control the situation.

In Gaza, the Israeli military has ordered new evacuations on the outskirts of Khan Younis and Rafah, signaling a potential planned ground assault.
