Market Production Rises in April 2024

In April 2024, total market production in the EU saw a 0.7% increase, while the euro area experienced a 0.3% rise compared to the previous month. This data, released today by Eurostat, highlights a positive trend in market activity.

The Total Market Production Index (TMPI), a composite measure that integrates short-term business statistics across industry, construction, trade, and services, indicated these gains.

Year-over-year, total market production grew by 1.1% in the EU and by 1.0% in the euro area. The EU's growth was driven by significant increases in services production (+4.2%) and trade (+2.2%), despite declines in industrial production (-2.0%) and construction (-0.9%).
