In accordance with the Food Safety Act and Regulation (EC) No. 178 of 2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Environmental Health Directorate within the Superintendence of Public Health wishes to inform the public that, following information received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed, the following product must not be consumed as it is potentially contaminated with Yersinia enterocolitica.
Yersinia enterocolitica is a bacterium transmitted through the consumption of contaminated food that causes food poisoning. Symptoms include fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, which can be bloody. Symptoms appear between four to ten days following consumption of contaminated food.
