Harris and Trump Clash Over Racial Identity

At an event for a prominent Black sorority last night, Kamala Harris sharply criticized comments made earlier by Donald Trump regarding her racial identity. Harris described Trump’s remarks as displaying "divisiveness and disrespect," and asserted that "the American people deserve better."

Trump, speaking at a conference for Black journalists, falsely suggested that Harris — who has Jamaican and Indian heritage and attended a historically Black university — had previously identified as Indian before suddenly "becoming a Black person." This claim is inaccurate.

During the same event, Trump also repeatedly labeled a reporter as "rude" and "nasty" after she cited a list of his past controversial comments about Black people.
