Power cuts continue to plague the country

The situation regarding power cuts has certainly not improved of late with several large areas suffering hour long power cuts over the past week.

On Tuesday evening, large parts of Birkirkara and Fleur de Lys were without power. On Wednesday it was the turn of Zebbug whilst Thursday also saw power cuts in Fleur de Lys, Gzira and Qormi which lasted for well over 11 hours in some cases.

Additionally, several factories at the Bulebel Industrial Estate were without power on Thursday, some for over 10 hours. Companies lamented that these cuts cost them several thousands of Euro as they also had to send employees home.

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli has repeatedly refused to apologize for this massive spate of cuts that have left thousands of citizens having to endure long hours in the heat with any form of cooling. Enemalta is relying on a strategy to transport generators to affected areas until repairs are completed.
