Antiracism Protesters Gather Across Britain Amid Fears of Far-Right Riots

Thousands of police officers were mobilized across Britain yesterday amid fears of a new round of anti-immigrant riots, following calls for further protests by far-right groups. However, by early evening, large far-right demonstrations had not materialized, resulting in only a handful of arrests.

Instead, thousands of antiracism protesters took to the streets across the country, including in cities like Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, and London. Some of these demonstrations were held near locations identified as potential targets for rioters.

In Liverpool, protesters banged drums, chanted “Fascists out!” and held signs reading “Love Not Hate,” as a helicopter circled overhead. The gathering was diverse, comprising locals surprised by their street becoming a protest center, as well as union groups and others condemning the recent violence.
