Donald Trump was interviewed by Elon Musk on X, the platform owned by Musk, in a lengthy discussion that did not reveal much new insight into Trump's perspectives. The interview, which extended for over an hour and a half, was part of Trump’s strategy to regain momentum following President Biden's withdrawal from the re-election race and Kamala Harris's ascendancy as the Democratic nominee.
Earlier in the day, Trump made his first posts on X in nearly a year. The appearance came as Kamala Harris gears up for the Democratic National Convention, which starts on Monday in Chicago.
European Commissioner Thierry Breton had sent Musk a letter emphasizing the need to moderate misinformation during the livestream. In response, X's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, dismissed the letter as an overreach of European regulations into U.S. political affairs.
