European leaders hold emergency meeting after Trump-Putin Ukraine talks

As American officials prepare for talks with Russia this week regarding a potential end to the war in Ukraine, European leaders are set to convene an emergency meeting in Paris to coordinate their response. The meeting comes amid growing concerns that President Trump’s negotiations with Moscow have excluded both Europe and Ukraine from the decision-making process.

On the eve of the Paris talks, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to send British troops to help secure Ukraine’s long-term security, emphasizing the need to deter Russian aggression.

European officials fear that Trump’s negotiations could lead to Russia controlling 20% of Ukraine, with the possibility of further expansion in the coming years. Many leaders believe that Putin’s ultimate objective is to weaken or dismantle NATO, raising alarms about the future of European security.
