Bathing Temporarily Discouraged at Xlendi Bay Due to Water Quality Concerns Bathing advisory in effect at Xlendi Bay following June rainfall runoff

The Environmental Health Directorate has issued a public advisory discouraging bathing at Xlendi Bay, Gozo, as a precautionary measure.

This comes after heavy rainfall on 20th June 2025 caused valley runoff to carry soil and debris into the bay from Rabat and surrounding areas. This may have compromised the water quality, posing a potential health risk.

Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) are currently monitoring the situation and have taken water samples from four designated points (D04, D05, D06, D07).

Signs have been posted on-site, and the advisory will remain active until further notice. The public will be updated once conditions are deemed safe again.
