MATSEC Results for 2024 Session Announced

The MATSEC results for the first examination session of 2024 were released on Monday, revealing significant data on student performance across various levels. The total number of registrations for SEC exams (O-Level) was 5,294, while registrations for the Matriculation exams (A-Level and Intermediate) reached 3,668.


In the O-Level category, Mathematics, English Language, and Maltese were the most registered subjects. Of the 4,622 candidates for the Mathematics exam, 2,395 received a grade of 5 or higher, with 287 achieving the top grade of 1. The English Language exam saw 4,519 candidates, with 3,192 securing a grade of 5 or higher, including 167 who earned a grade of 1. For Maltese, 3,968 candidates registered, with 2,543 obtaining a grade of 5 or higher, and 152 achieving the highest grade of 1.


The A-Level statistics showed that English, Marketing, and Maltese were the most popular subjects. Among the 795 candidates for English, 274 achieved a C grade or higher, with 13 earning an A. In Marketing, 247 candidates received a C or higher, with 38 attaining an A. For Maltese, 527 candidates registered, with 261 achieving a C or higher, and 28 securing an A.


For the Intermediate exams, Systems of Knowledge, English, and Psychology were the leading subjects. In Systems of Knowledge, 1,716 candidates registered, with 961 achieving a C or higher, including 108 who earned an A. The English Intermediate exam had 924 candidates, with 403 achieving a C or higher, and 18 earning an A. For Psychology, 799 candidates registered, with 287 achieving a C or higher, and 46 attaining an A.


The Secondary Education Applied Certificate Level Examinations also saw notable results. There were 465 unique candidates, with the most popular subjects being Hairdressing and Beauty, Engineering Technology, and Hospitality. In Hairdressing and Beauty, 74 out of 98 candidates achieved a grade of Level 1 or higher. For Engineering Technology, 67 out of 89 candidates attained a grade of Level 1 or higher. In Hospitality, 67 out of 86 candidates achieved a grade of Level 1 or higher.
