The 2026 Budget marks Malta’s largest-ever investment in the voluntary and social sectors — two key pillars of inclusion and community building.

Minister Julia Farrugia Portelli and Parliamentary Secretary Rebecca Buttigieg announced a record €2.5 million in funding spread across six schemes administered by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS). These initiatives aim to strengthen organisations that provide vital community support, especially to vulnerable groups.

Through the new Budget, NGOs will benefit from incentives to reduce utility costs, financial aid for upgrading premises, and access to modern resources that enhance their outreach. The Budget also expands social measures, including higher disability allowances, refunds for therapy services, and new respite projects for families in need.

Minister Farrugia Portelli said this Budget embodies “a strong social vision that values solidarity, inclusion, and active participation.”
