The newly inaugurated Vincent Moran Health Centre in Paola is poised to serve approximately 130,000 individuals and will commence delivering a variety of services to the public soon, as stated by the government on Friday.
Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela and Foundation for Medical Services CEO Robert Xuereb, inspected the six-story facility during their visit on Friday.
Funded by public and European resources, the center pays tribute to the late health minister Vincent Moran, who passed away in 2018.
The center's array of services will include surgical procedures and specialized treatments, enabling patients to return home shortly after their operations. By consolidating numerous services under one roof, the center aims to diminish reliance on Mater Dei Hospital.
Prime Minister Abela highlighted the growing acceptance of the government's health sector vision among professionals and the public, emphasizing the increasing focus on community services.
The center will offer mental health care, physiotherapy, and consultations on heart disease, transitioning these services from Mater Dei to the Paola facility. Dental care will also be available, courtesy of a dedicated dental facility.
Abela underscored the significance of community services in enhancing quality of life, stating that such investments across sectors, including health, are pivotal in supporting individuals in various life circumstances.
Moreover, the center boasts dedicated parking spaces for staff, patients, and residents in the vicinity, ensuring convenient access to its services.
