In a bold statement, Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a direct warning to the United States and its allies, indicating his willingness to provide arms to North Korea, despite existing U.N. sanctions.
While speaking to reporters in Vietnam before his return to Russia, Putin framed this potential action as a countermeasure to Western nations supplying Ukraine with weapons used against Russian targets.
"Those who supply these weapons believe that they are not at war with us. Well, as I said, including in Pyongyang, then we reserve the right to supply weapons to other regions of the world," Putin remarked, referencing the North Korean capital.
Although Putin did not specify the types of weapons he might provide, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is known to be seeking advancements in nuclear warheads, missiles, submarines, and satellites—areas where Russia holds advanced and powerful technology.
