Gaza's Hamas-controlled Health Ministry reported that at least 15 people were killed by an attack on a school housing displaced persons in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Israeli forces operating in Gaza City's Shujaiyeh neighborhood located terror tunnel shafts, munitions, and long-range rocket launchers. The IDF also struck a Hamas rocket launcher in a humanitarian zone in Deir al-Balah. In the West Bank, six Palestinians were wounded in the Balata refugee camp by Israeli army fire, and a 22-year-old Palestinian man was killed near Ramallah. Additionally, settlers were accused of arson and attacking homes and olive groves.
Hamas has dropped its demand for Israel to commit to a permanent cease-fire before negotiations. Talks on releasing hostages, including soldiers and male hostages, are to begin within 16 days of the deal's first phase. Meanwhile, gaps remain in the negotiations from the Israeli side, with Israeli hostages' families demonstrating for the government to accept a deal.
In Israel-Lebanon relations, the IDF struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. Four rockets from Lebanon hit northern Israel, injuring two soldiers. In Iran, reformist Masoud Pezeshkian won the runoff presidential election, pledging to improve relations with the West.
This conflict follows Israel's declaration of war after Hamas killed at least 1,200 Israelis on October 7. In Gaza, over 38,000 Palestinians have been killed, with more than 120 hostages held by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The war also comes amid a significant domestic crisis in Israel due to judicial reforms and increased violence between West Bank Palestinians and Israeli settlers.
