Gozo blackout for more than 4 hours last night due to cable catching fire Power cut

Almost all localities in Gozo were hit by a power cut yesterday from around 7Pm to at least 1230am. In some places, power was restored at around 1am.

Enemalta engineers and technicians are restored electricity supply to consumers in Gozo following a fire that developed on one of the cables supplying Gozo.

On Tuesday evening, a fire developed on one of the electricity cables, causing a disruption of supply to customers in Gozo. This fire impacted another cable that provides electricity to Gozo.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site to control the situation, during which Enemalta had to switch off all the cables within the culvert that provide electricity to Gozo as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all those involved. Enemalta’s distribution teams took all the necessary measures to gradually restore the supply to Gozo.

Enemalta thanks both the CPD personnel and its engineers and technicians for their hard work and efficiency.
Live updates of planned and unplanned electricity supply disruptions are also available on the Enemalta website www.enemalta.com.mt.
