Netanyahu Rejects Calls for Gaza Cease-Fire, Vows No Concessions to Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has firmly rejected demands from allies, protesters, and the families of hostages for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, which would have facilitated the return of hostages. Netanyahu emphasized that he would not agree to a truce that involved Israel’s withdrawal from the territory.

During a news conference, Netanyahu questioned the implications of conceding to Hamas after hostages had been killed, asking, "Slay hostages, and you’ll get concessions?" He reaffirmed that the war would only end when Hamas no longer controlled Gaza.

His remarks followed widespread protests and work stoppages at primary schools, municipalities, transport networks, and hospitals across Israel. A court later ordered union leaders to end the labor strike.
