Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced that Hezbollah has agreed to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which mandates the withdrawal of its forces from southern Lebanon. Mikati also revealed that Lebanon intends to request the UN Security Council to call for a cease-fire with Israel, adding that he has been in talks with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding efforts to broker a truce.
In related developments, senior Hezbollah officer Wafiq Safa was reportedly seriously wounded in an Israeli attack on Beirut. Additionally, the IDF announced the killing of a Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader in the West Bank, and a Thai foreign worker was killed by unexploded ordnance in northern Israel. Meanwhile, UNIFIL reported two explosions near its headquarters, the second such incident in 48 hours, injuring two peacekeepers.
