Israel carried out new airstrikes near Beirut yesterday, with one strike landing near Lebanon’s largest government hospital. The attack killed at least four people, including a child, and injured more than 20, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
The strikes have further strained Lebanon’s healthcare system, with multiple hospitals and medical facilities hit in recent weeks. The U.N. has reported that several hospitals have been forced to close due to the conflict.
U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein called for the revival of a 2006 U.N. resolution, warning that the situation in Lebanon had "escalated out of control." U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to travel to the region for further discussions.
