President Biden Pardons Son Hunter, Citing Political Motivations Behind Charges

In a significant decision, President Joe Biden fully pardoned his son Hunter Biden last night, offering an unconditional executive grant of clemency. The pardon comes after years of legal challenges, including a federal conviction for illegally purchasing a firearm.

In a statement, President Biden explained that the decision to pardon his son was motivated by his belief that the charges against Hunter were politically driven, aimed at undermining his presidency. "The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election," the president said.

This move is reminiscent of past presidential pardons, where family members were granted clemency late in a term. Notable examples include President Bill Clinton's pardon of his half-brother Roger Clinton for cocaine charges and President Donald Trump's pardon of Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law Jared Kushner, for tax evasion and other crimes.
