Syrian Rebels Seize Strategic Areas as Regional Tensions Escalate

Syrian anti-Assad forces have captured the Quneitra province near the Israeli border in the Golan Heights, marking a significant gain for the opposition. In Damascus, rebels reached the city’s suburbs for the first time since 2018, a development confirmed by both opposition sources and a rebel commander. Despite reports suggesting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had fled the capital, his office denied these claims, asserting his presence in Damascus.

The IDF announced it is aiding UN forces to repel militant attacks on a UN post near the Israel-Syria border. Reinforcements have also been deployed to Israel's northern Golan Heights to bolster defenses amid heightened security concerns.

In Gaza, Hamas is reportedly intensifying efforts to locate hostages amidst progress in negotiations for a potential deal with Israel. Sources indicate that Hamas may request a temporary pause in hostilities to compile a list of surviving captives. Meanwhile, the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry reported over 44,000 fatalities since the war's onset.

In Lebanon, the IDF struck Hezbollah targets in response to perceived threats. Separately, three Israelis were injured in a suspected car-ramming attack in the West Bank, as tensions in the occupied territories persist.
