Meeting between the speaker of the house of representatives, the graffitti movement, and the palestinian bds national committee representatives

Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia met today with Yana Mintoff of the Graffitti Movement, alongside Saleh Hijazi, Policy Coordinator, and Fiona Ben Chekroun, Europe Coordinator of the Palestinian Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) National Committee (BNC), to discuss the situation in Palestine and Malta’s international obligations.

The BNC, the largest coalition in Palestinian civil society, represents major trade unions, mass organisations, professional federations, and grassroots networks leading the global movement for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions. The meeting addressed the political and humanitarian crisis in Palestine, the impact of the BDS movement, and Malta’s responsibilities under international law regarding the Palestine-Israel conflict.

Speaker Farrugia reiterated Malta’s commitment to upholding international law and human rights, emphasising the importance of a just and peaceful resolution. BNC representatives highlighted their work in challenging the ongoing occupation through non-violent campaigns and urged Malta, as an EU member state, to continue advocating for accountability and justice.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to ongoing dialogue and collaboration in addressing the violations of Palestinian rights and the need for a fair and lasting resolution to the conflict.
