Specialist Employee Initiative Work Permit
Third-country nationals who have received a job offer in Malta and fulfill all the requirements stated in Subsidiary Legislation 217.17 for the Single Permit Regulations, but do not meet the criteria for the Key Employee Initiative, may be able to obtain their Single Permit through this expedited process.
Only third-country nationals who have a valid employment contract with a company registered in Malta are eligible to apply.
To be eligible for the Specialist Employee Initiative, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- An annual gross salary of at least €25,000.
- Possession of either an MQF Level 6 or higher qualification directly related to the offered employment position in Malta, or other certified qualifications that are directly related to the position and have an MQF level lower than 6, along with a minimum of three years of experience in a directly related position. Proof of experience can be provided through previous employment contracts, certified employment history, or reference letters from former employers.
Additional documentation may be requested by Identità to verify eligibility if the submitted documents are deemed insufficient.
The applicable fee for this process is €300.
