The 2024 Summer Olympics concluded last night with a grand closing ceremony at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris. The event, which marked the end of over two weeks of intense competition, featured a dazzling display of live performances, including music from international pop stars and a theatrical show involving hundreds of performers.
In a dramatic finale, the Olympic flag was handed off to Los Angeles, the host of the next Summer Games, through a high-flying spectacle. Actor Tom Cruise, suspended from a cable, soared from the stadium roof to the arena floor, where he received the flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and American gymnast Simone Biles. Cruise then rode off on a motorcycle, symbolically passing the torch to the upcoming host city.
Looking ahead, the Winter Olympics will head to Italy, with Milan and Cortina set to host the Games in February 2026.
