Dr Ian Borg urges higher standards in tourist accommodation for a more competitive Malta
Deputy PM visits Noru Hotel, highlights quality-focused tourism strategy
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism Ian Borg encouraged Malta’s hospitality operators to keep investing in quality and sustainability to stay competitive globally.
During a visit to Noru Hotel in St Julian’s, a luxury 4-star hotel celebrating its first anniversary and 15,000th guest, Dr Borg praised the hotel’s commitment to delivering high-value experiences. He also welcomed plans to expand the Noru brand internationally with a second hotel in Sicily.
The government is working closely with the tourism sector under the Malta Tourism Strategy 2030 and Vision 2050, aiming for higher per capita tourist spending and more value-added services.
In 2024, the Malta Tourism Authority carried out around 7,000 inspections to ensure accommodation standards and handle visitor complaints.
