Israel Braces for Potential Iranian Retaliation

The Israeli military has declared a state of “peak readiness” as tensions with Iran escalate, following threats of retaliation from Tehran. The U.S. military is responding by positioning a guided-missile submarine in the region, with a White House spokesman indicating that U.S. intelligence suggests a possible attack on Israel could occur within this week.

President Joe Biden has engaged with the leaders of Britain, France, Germany, and Italy to discuss de-escalation efforts and a potential cease-fire between Israel and Hamas. In a joint statement, these leaders called for Iran to retract its threats and support a truce.

Iran has vowed revenge following the killing of a prominent Hamas leader in Tehran last month. Despite the looming threat, no significant Iranian response has yet materialized, leaving the region on high alert. Analysts suggest that Iran is seeking a way to respond without escalating into full-scale war.
