China is leading the charge in the development and testing of driverless cars, with the government playing a key role in this initiative. The country has established extensive testing areas on public roads and is actively managing online discourse about safety incidents and crashes to mitigate public fears.
Keith Bradsher, our Beijing bureau chief, visited Wuhan to experience the world’s largest driverless car experiment firsthand.
