Malta Employers has submitted formal feedback on the Labour Migration Policy consultation document, outlining key recommendations to improve the proposed framework.
Following a special webinar with nearly 200 members, Malta Employers provided a detailed review of the 32 Recommendations within the document, emphasizing the policy’s importance for Malta’s labour market and economic reliance on foreign workers.
While supporting the overall policy direction, Malta Employers highlighted the need for refinements to ensure a fair, efficient, and well-regulated labour market. The organization emphasized that:
Malta Employers reaffirmed its commitment to ethical work practices and workforce retention, stating that a stable labour force enhances productivity, reduces recruitment costs, and strengthens company culture. However, employers should not be penalized for voluntary resignations, and seasonal workforce fluctuations should be considered in the policy framework.
Overall, Malta Employers welcomed the proposed policy but urged the Government to fine-tune certain aspects to ensure it meets current and future labour market demands while maintaining flexibility, ethical standards, and economic competitiveness.
